They point to the projects of Elon Musk, the owner of the company, who wanted to equip the offices with rooms, explains the American site Business Insider.
Elon Musk’s idea was to make rooms available to his employees. These arrangements were to support “extreme” involvement by company employees. following an ultimatum raised by the billionaire shortly after his acquisition of Twitter.
The only problem, by inviting his employees to sleep in the place, Elon Musk left the framework of use provided by the lease of the Twitter headquarters. A first inspection of the facilities was then carried out. made in December 2022.
Among the plaintiffs, Joseph Killian was the head of construction within Twitter. It was he who had to transform the offices into bedrooms. The city inspectors then confided in him “their surprise of him and his relief,” he details in the complaint.
However, Joseph Killian reveals that his superiors asked him not to reveal the extent of the changes planned by Twitter management. He then shared his concerns about installing locks on the doors.
Not being connected to the fire safety system, these doors could have remained closed in the event of a fire. The employee submitted his resignation after refusing to place these devices that “would put lives in danger,” the complaint says.
Given these new revelations, San Francisco has decided to open a new investigation into the redevelopment Twitter Headquarters. Facilities described by former employees may violate California building codes and are tantamount to establishing a hotel.
