No more free account sharing on Netflix. From now on, French subscribers will no longer be able to give their access to a person outside their household under penalty of paying an additional 5.99 euros, the American streaming giant announced a few days ago.
According to the Netflix FAQ, home equates to all the “Internet-connected devices in the place you watch Netflix from” mostly. This location must be defined. To do this, you must manually configure the Netflix home in your account settings from a television connected to the platform.
Then, “devices that use your Netflix account from the same Internet connection as this TV are automatically integrated into your Netflix home,” the company specifies.
How to define your Netflix home?
- Go to the Netflix home page on your TV
- Tap on “Get Help” and then select the “Manage Netflix Home” tab
- Choose “Confirm Netflix Home” or “Update My Netflix Home”
- Click “Send Email” or “Send SMS” to get a verification link
Fireplace setup is done automatically if you don’t do it manually. In addition, household members can continue to use their account when traveling by connecting their device to their primary residence’s Wi-Fi network at least once a month.
