This Wednesday, May 31, marks World No Tobacco Day. In addition to medical and therapeutic aids, more and more applications can help smokers to reduce or even stop using tobacco. Here are four, to become more aware of your consumption or, even better, to approach its cessation in the best conditions.
Also, it is always good to remember that these applications can be used in addition to other smoking cessation aids: medical and smoking monitoring, nicotine patches or gum, etc.
Kwit, the most balanced
With its 3.5 million daily users, Kwit is the French nugget of anti-smoking. Created by a former smoker from Alsace, the app is presented as a therapeutic aid and focuses on stimulation. After entering their smoking habits, the user is assigned a profile that keeps them informed daily of their progress, including money saved and health benefits, all in the form of increments.
It offers a follow-up in the form of a diary, allowing you to report any “fissures”, and will give you encouragement if necessary. Finally, a reward system makes it all quite fun. If there is a more complete paid version, the free version, available in the App Store and Play Store, is more than enough for daily use.
Flamy, the most playful
Flamy is another application that has chosen entertainment as its support. Flamy looks pretty similar to Kwit, but also offers a mini-game system to “stay busy” in case the cravings strike. You can set your financial goals in a personalized way to motivate yourself not to buy more packs of cigarettes, or even share your goals in the form of bets with other people to give yourself value.
The health and money benefits are also presented in a follow-up form. The free version is slightly less extensive than the paid version, but still offers a range of welcome services. Flamy is currently only available on the Play Store.
Coaching (tobacco infoservice), the most complete
This app was designed by the French Ministry of Health, Health Insurance and Public Health. It has the same features as everyone else: mini-games, objectives, health levels, and finances. But its strong point lies above all in the possibility of going to a tobacco specialist, by phone or by email. The application promises to contact you within a maximum period of 48 hours. Quite effective custom support also allows you to choose your own strategies or stop or resist cracking. The interface is simple and functional, and the application is free.
Smoke Watchers – the most participatory
Smoke Watchers, unlike previous apps, doesn’t actually offer personalized daily tracking. Here mutual help prevails above all: a kind of sponsorship system allows you to discuss with other people who want to quit smoking or who have already succeeded, a beneficial point for those who want to feel supported and in community. Small floor, its effectiveness obviously depends on the number of users. It is currently available on the App Store and Play Store.
