the fighting game street fighter 6 Officially released this Friday June 2nd. It was an opportunity for Tech&Co to discuss it with Kayane, a multi-win professional combat player.
For this new work, Capcom has offered Street Fighter a graphical overhaul, which doesn’t necessarily convince all gamers: “I know the art direction is divisive, but the game looks great to me,” Kayane tells Tech&Co.
According to her, seven years later street fighter 5“Capcom has understood its mistakes, the entire production team has changed. One of the new producers in particular has a very street-art, very hip-hop vision, who is really interested in the new generation of gamers and just looking to appeal to the old ones,” he continues on Tech&Co.
A more accessible “modern” mode
To go hand in hand with this new generation of players, the game had to be renewed. It is the case, with a “modern mode”: “this is a much more simplified game mode, which allows you to do moves without doing the quarter circle (with the controller) or charge moves that are easier to achieve”, explains the professional player.
However, modern mode does not give access to all the moves in the game: to be entitled to them, you will have to stay in classic mode.
On the sporting side, Kayane believes that the game meets the criteria for offering quality competition. “Capcom has always invested heavily in esports, going back to the end of street fighter 4. They have their Capcom Pro Tour and announced $2 million in prize money this year (the total value of the prize awarded to the winners of esports competitions, editor’s note), $1 million of which goes to the winner alone.
“Suffice to say, the competition is likely to be tough in Street Fighter 6 from year one,” says the player.
