The Russian head of state, Vladimir Putin, on Thursday congratulated his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on his 70th birthday and said that he trusts in a closer, constructive and cooperative dialogue between Moscow and Beijing.
“I look forward to continuing our constructive dialogue and working further together on current issues regarding the bilateral, regional and international agenda and for the benefit of the Russian and Chinese peoples,” Putin wrote in a telegram sent to Xi Jinping and released by the Kremlin. ..
Putin recalled that the “state visit to Russia in March gave a strong impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in key areas.”
In the same message, Vladimir Putin wished his “friend” Xi Jinping “good health, happiness and prosperity.”
In February 2022, shortly before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Putin and Xi Jinping proclaimed in Beijing “unlimited friendship” between Russia and the People’s Republic of China.
Last March, during Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia, the two countries established agreements aimed at strengthening military cooperation and increasing mutual trust between the Moscow and Beijing Armed Forces.
