Remand for man who killed three people in Nottingham

The man charged with three murders and three attempted murders following Tuesday’s Nottingham attacks is awaiting trial on remand, the court ruled on Saturday.

The suspect was heard by a judge, but said only his name and date of birth, according to AFP.

The 31-year-old man, who will be a Portuguese national, was revealed by British police as Valdo Calocane and is a former student at the University of Nottingham.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the parents, originally from Guinea-Bissau, worked on the island of Madeira and obtained Portuguese nationality in 2006.

The couple moved to the United Kingdom with their three children in 2007 and acquired European Union resident status.

The perpetrator of the crimes is due to appear in court in Nottingham on Monday.
