“As is public knowledge, I am excited about the potential for graphene oxide to work and inadvertently linked the substance to the vaccine, a fact that was contradicted in August 2021. Once again, I regret what I said and apologize. ”, said the former president, quoted by the Spanish news agency EFE, after a chorus of criticism of the intervention carried out on Saturday, in an act of the Liberal Party, in the state of São Paulo.
In the speech, Bolsonaro said, according to the UOL Notícias portal, that the package leaflet for vaccines developed with mRNA technology had a reference to graphene: “The vaccine has graphene dioxide, okay? Where does it accumulate? In the testicles and the ovaries”. he said, exclaiming, “I read the pamphlet.”
Bolsonaro was president of Brazil between 2019 and 2022 and during the Covid-19 pandemic he adopted a denialist stance, devalued the seriousness of the virus, criticized the imposition of isolation measures, rejected the use of masks and spread unfounded suspicions about the effectiveness of the vaccines.
