Russia accuses Ukraine of drone attack in Kakhova

Russia accused Ukraine on Tuesday of attacking with drones the city of Kakhovka Raion, on the outskirts of the dam whose rupture caused severe flooding on June 6.

The attack in the last few hours, according to the TASS agency, left three injured, including a 35-year-old woman who is hospitalized in a condition considered serious.

The city of Kakhova Raion (Nova Kakhova) is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River in Kherson.

After the floods caused by the collapse of the dam, more than eight thousand people were forced to leave their place of residence.

Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the destruction of the dam.

According to data from the Russian authorities, at least 38 people died after the dam disaster.

Separately, Kiev authorities said on Sunday that “more than 500 people” had died in Russian-occupied territory along with the damaged dam.

The interim governor appointed by Russia for the occupied areas of Kherson said last Friday that 12 of the 35 towns that were flooded are “out of danger” and that sanitary surveillance is maintained due to the danger of spreading diseases caused by the flooding.

So far, according to Moscow, 2,140 people with viral hepatitis, 1,921 with dysentery and 54 people with typhoid fever have been evacuated.

The situation in the area has not yet been verified by independent sources or entities.
