Two Palestinians died this morning as a result of injuries sustained during clashes with Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank on Monday, bringing the death toll to six on one of the most violent days of the year.
The information was advanced by the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa. The previous balance pointed to four deaths.
The region has seen the largest increase in violence in the last two decades, with at least 132 Palestinians killed this year.
Israel has been carrying out attacks in the West Bank in response to an outbreak of Palestinian violence early last year. Palestinian attacks against Israelis increased during this period.
Israel says most of the Palestinians killed were militants, but stone-throwing youths in protest against the incursions and others not involved in the fighting were also killed.
Palestinian attacks on Israelis have killed at least 20 people this year.
