At least 31 people were killed in an explosion at a restaurant in the northwestern Chinese city of Yinchuan on Wednesday evening, the Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.
The explosion was the result of a gas leak in the restaurant, according to the Chinese state news agency.
Seven other people were injured and are being treated in hospital.

The street, where other dining and entertainment options are located in a residential area of the city center of Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Autonomous Region, was littered with rubble.
The tragedy occurred on the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival, a three-day celebration when many Chinese gather with family and friends.
