Inflation in France reached 5.6% in September, according to provisional data released this Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INSEE), a drop of 0.3 percentage points compared to August.
This reduction in inflation is due to a slowdown in the increase in energy prices, in services, highlights the INSEE in a statement.
The increase in energy was 17.8% in September, when it had been 22.7% the previous month.
In services, the increase was 3.2% in September, compared to 3.9% in August, a usual decrease at this time of year when the tourist season ends, but more pronounced.
On the contrary, the price of food rose this month to 9.9%, compared to 7.9% in August.
Manufactured goods also did, with an increase of 3.6% in September, 0.1 percentage point more than the previous month.
If the month of September is considered in isolation, consumer prices fell by 0.5%.
