Vladimir Putin spoke Monday night, two days after the aborted rebellion by the Wagner militia.
“This civil solidarity has shown that any attempt at blackmail or destabilization is doomed to fail,” the Russian president said.
“Pressures From Outside”
He praised the supposed unity of Russian society during the riot.
“Practically the entire Russian society was united by responsibility, by the homeland. All decisions were made to neutralize the danger, protect the constitutional order and the lives of our fellow citizens. The armed rebellion would have been contained,” he said, he added. .
“Those who took this criminal step to divide the country, which is suffering from pressure from outside (…) are the enemies of Russia,” he also said, accusing Ukraine, which “wanted Russian soldiers to kill each other, soldiers and civilians to die, so that Russia would lose and our society would be divided by drowning in bloody feuds.”
