Together with France’s former Secretary of State for Digital Transition and Electronic Communications, Cédric O, and with more than 120 French and European economic actors, Inetum CEO Jacques Pommeraud signed an open letter this Tuesday to the leaders of the European Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament, to express their concerns about Europe’s competitiveness and technological sovereignty following the latest developments in the draft law regulating artificial intelligence in Europe (EU AI Law).
At the head of a global group, European leader in digital services and solutions, Jacques Pommeraud joins several economic actors to share the risks of an irrational desire to regulate artificial intelligence, more specifically so-called “generative” AI.
For the CEO of the digital services company Inetum, excessive regulation of this technology would determine the innovation capabilities of European companies and encourage the move of those seeking to free themselves from an overly coercive regulatory framework.
Despite the undeniable need to control the use of this technology, this open letter encourages a moderate and collaborative legal framework that leverages artificial intelligence with a positive impact on the performance and competitiveness of European companies.
The challenges are great, especially for digital companies like Inetum, to keep innovating and attracting and retaining the best talent and skills in this technology.
