Ukrainian attacks in the east leave one dead and 25 wounded

Bombing by the Ukrainian army in Makiivka, in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), which was annexed by Russia in September as part of its invasion of Ukraine, has left at least one person dead and 25 injured. TASS desk.

Russian authorities also suffered this Wednesday from new attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces with ‘drones’ and artillery on towns in the border regions of Belgorod and Kursk, which left one woman injured.

“A woman had to be hospitalized with injuries to the chest caused by shrapnel,” wrote the governor of the Belgorod region, Vladislav Gladkov, in his personal account on the Telegram social network, indicating that the target of the attack was the town of Valuiki, located about 10 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

In Makiivka, the city’s mayor Vladislav Kliucharov, quoted by TASS, said that the Ukrainian army’s attacks, which were recorded late on Tuesday afternoon, left one civilian dead and the 25 injured were taken to different hospitals.

DPR Governor Denis Pushilin said on the Telegram social network that the attack took place in residential areas and a hospital complex in the late afternoon.

“At the moment, there are 25 known victims, including injuries to two children, a two-year-old and a seven-year-old,” Pushilin said, adding that several buildings, hospitals, schools and kindergartens were affected.

In addition, the Ukrainian armed forces claimed to have attacked “a formation of Russian terrorists” in Makiivka, without giving further details about the incident.

“As a result of the effective impact of the armed forces’ fire, another formation of Russian terrorists in Makiivka, which was temporarily occupied, ceased to exist,” the Strategic Communications Bureau of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said through its Telegram account.

The message contains a video showing an explosion and several buildings.

Ukrainian authorities have made no official comment on the target attacked in Makiivka as part of the counter-offensive launched several weeks ago in the south and east of the country.

On attacks on cities in the border regions of Belgorod and Kursk, Vladislav Gladkov added that the Ukrainian offensive lasted more than an hour and damaged eight houses and power lines.

According to the governor of Belgorod, a ‘drone’ and three Grad missiles were shot down by the air defense of the Russian army.

Gladkov said there was also a Ukrainian attack in the neighboring Kursk region, with no casualties, despite 12 shells hitting the village of Tiotkino, the area’s governor, Roman Starovoit, said.

“There were no casualties. The local school was badly damaged. We will start repairing it as soon as possible,” he wrote in Telegram.
