The Spanish Civil Guard, in collaboration with the British authorities, dismantled a criminal organization in Malaga that was dedicated to the introduction of large quantities of cocaine from South America into Spain and the United Kingdom.
In the operation, 3,754 kilos of cocaine were seized and nine people suspected of being involved in the network were arrested, all of them British nationals and wanted by the UK Crime Agency.
During the different phases of the Eulalia operation, several searches were carried out in the towns of Mijas Costa and Benalmádena, in the Spanish province of Málaga, as well as in the United Kingdom, in addition to the “large quantity” of cocaine, two luxury ships, a vehicle and a large number of mobile phones.
The police operation began after a tax control carried out in Puerto Marina (Benalmádena) where one of the boats raised suspicions with the authorities.
At first, inside the luxurious boat, a plastic box was found hidden on the deck, which contained 18 cocaine pills of one kilogram each.
Due to the presence of drugs, two British citizens who were on board were detained.
After the judicial authorization to carry out searches in the cabins of the same boat, another 166 pills identical to those initially detected were found.
After the exchange of information between the Spanish authorities and the British investigation body, it was concluded that the two detainees were being investigated in the United Kingdom.
The same British criminal organization was in charge of coordinating the logistics and distribution of narcotics using luxury boats that sailed to the point where Brazilian merchant marine ships were located and that threw cargoes containing cocaine into the sea.
The members of the network collected the cocaine on the high seas, which they then transported to marinas on the coast of Malaga, Andalusia.
The cocaine was then stored in villas in southern Spain and then transported to the UK.
British authorities in the United Kingdom, as part of the same operation, seized 2.37 tons of cocaine and 1.2 tons of the same substance in different parts of the country and arrested seven British citizens who allegedly belong to the same crime group. organized.
