The death toll from flooding caused by heavy rains in northern India in recent days has risen to 42, authorities said on Tuesday.
The storm triggered landslides and flooding that toppled homes and swept away vehicles, submerging villages and farmland.

The most affected areas are in the state of Himachal Pradesh, although areas of Uttarakhand and the capital, New Delhi, were also affected.
