Before the Israeli Parliament, Donald Trump suggests a pardon for Benjamin Netanyahu, prosecuted for corruption

During his speech before the Knesset in Jerusalem this Monday, October 13, the American president called for amnesty for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A suggestion that arises after the release of the last Israeli hostages still alive.

A long speech on a historic day. While the 20 still living Israeli hostages held in Gaza by Hamas since 2023 have already been released, Donald Trump gave a multi-minute speech before the Israeli parliament this Monday, October 13.

During his speech, the American president particularly praised Benjamin Netanyahu, who, according to him, “was the most capable and competent president in times of war.”

“You are a popular man because you know how to win,” he said, addressing Benjamin Netanyahu, while the Knesset chanted the latter’s name.

Donald Trump, welcomed as a hero in Israel, also suggested an amnesty for the prime minister of the Hebrew State entangled with Justice.

“Why not grant him forgiveness?”

“I have an idea. Mr. President (Isaac Herzog, editor’s note), why not grant him forgiveness? This passage was not foreseen in the speech (…) But I like this man,” said the American president in his speech.

“Whether you like it or not, he was one of the greatest wartime presidents, truly one of the greatest. And cigars and champagne, frankly, who cares?”

“I see how popular you are, you are a very popular man, and you know why? Because you know how to win,” the American president said again, addressing Benjamin Netanyahu.
