PP favorite but dependent on Vox to gain majority

Alberto Núñez Feijóo won four absolute majorities for president of the Junta de Galicia, the only autonomy where Vox has no representatives in the regional parliament, and has campaigned for the early July 23 legislature to call for a “sufficient” majority to let the People’s Party (PP) rule alone without needing the extreme right. But, on the last day it is legally allowed to publish polls, it shows that it depends on Santiago Abascal’s party. And even then an absolute majority is not guaranteed.

All polls give the PP victory, with the exception of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS), which has seen the PP win only twice since the leadership of former socialist leader José Féliz Tezanos and changing methods of calculation in 2018. Yesterday’s poll gave Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s PSOE 32.2% support (it counts no seats in Congress), 1.4 points ahead of the PP, at 30.8%. Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz’s Sumar was third, with 14.9%, and Vox is said to have 11.8%.

An exception in favor of the left bloc, in a scenario where the PP is the favorite in all other polls. On the 40dB for the the country and Cadena Ser, the PP would have 32.9% and 135 seats in Congress, while the PSOE would have 28.7% and 110 deputies. Sumar would have 13.7% and 36 deputies, while Vox would have a lower percentage (13.5%) but more elected representatives (38). This is related to the concentration of voices in some areas. PP and Vox together have 173 deputies, three of the absolute majority.

The GAD3 survey for the ABC put the two right-wing parties four deputies ahead of that majority. The PP would have 151 (37% of the vote) and the Vox 29 (with 11.9%). PSOE elected 115 representatives (28.4%) and Sumar would have 25 (11.5%). In the NCReport poll, Feijóo’s party would vote for La Razón between 153 and 156 deputies, with Sánchez’s going no further than 106 to 109. Abascal’s would have between 26 and 28, while Díaz’s would have between the 25 and 27 would have. a majority – 179 deputies in the worst case and 184 in the best.

In the Sigma Dos study of The worldthe PP elected 147 deputies, while the PSOE would have 108. Sumar would reach 34 while Vox (on a downtrend) would only have 29, leaving the right in the majority with the 176 deputies and no room for losses. This poll calculates that 26 seats in Congress are contested by less than 4,000 votes, which could change the scenario.

There is almost a week left from the campaign to the election, and yesterday the debate on pensions – Feijóo was caught in a lie by saying that the PP always increased pensioners at the level of the consumer price index, only to correct this later and limit itself to the claim that pensions were always increased. On the left, Díaz stood for the first time next to Podemos general secretary and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, in Pamplona, who wanted to show unity.
