Russian missiles launched Tuesday night at the port of Odessa hit a grain terminal, an oil terminal and other infrastructure, the military administration of the Odessa region said today.
“The Russians launched the [mísseis] Onyx and Kh-22 against the port and against critical infrastructure” of Odessa, according to the Ukrainian military, who specified that “a grain terminal, an oil terminal were attacked” and that several fuel tanks and cargo equipment were damaged.
The attack also caused a fire in the port area, the source added.
Several buildings were also damaged in another area of Odessa when debris from an intercepted missile fell, injuring three civilians.
An industrial infrastructure was affected by the attack and a company official was injured. Firefighters mobilized to put out a fire that spread over an area of more than 3,000 square meters.
Russia also used Iranian Shahed ‘kamikaze drones’ in the attack. Debris from some of these landed at various hotels and tourist facilities on the Odessa shoreline. Two civilians were injured in this part of the region.
The Ukrainian air force had previously reported that Russia attacked Odessa on Monday night with 14 cruise missiles and several Shahed drones. It is the second night in a row that Odessa has been attacked.
The escalation of attacks on Odessa and its port infrastructure comes after Russia announced on Monday that it would not extend the so-called Black Sea Grain Agreement, which allowed the export of Ukrainian grain through three Ukrainian ports, including Odessa.
