Ukrainian troops are already using cluster bombs sent by the US, according to international media.
This type of weapon is being used in the south of the country, with the aim of breaking through Russian positions that are delaying the Ukrainian counter-offensive.
The information is provided by The Washington Postciting Ukrainian officials, and confirmed by The New York Times from US military sources.
Two US officials referred to the The New York Times under anonymity and revealed that this weapon is used in several locations in southern Ukraine, without going into details.
The Ukrainian authorities have not officially asked the US media for clarification on whether or not US-supplied cluster bombs are being used.
Hundreds of thousands of cluster bombs arrived in Ukraine last week from weapons depots in Europe, Pentagon officials revealed last week.
Joe Biden admitted he had doubts about sending these types of weapons to Kiev, as cluster bombs are banned in more than 100 countries. However, Russia has been using cluster bombs on Ukrainian soil since the beginning of the war.
