A huge mess! The opening of a home products store, with great promotions, brought hundreds of people to Estrada do Mendanha, in Campo Grande, in the western zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday. But no one foresaw the confusion that ensued, with customers fighting each other over the products, with some people falling and being stepped on.
As soon as the gates opened, it felt like a festival crowd rushing to take their seats near the stage. The footage shows customers ecstatically fighting each other to get hold of the products that were on sale. The most popular, oddly enough, were the brooms, which could be bought for a price of 50 cents and each person could take two units.
Other products that earned a lot of attention and confusion from customers were pressure cookers, sold for a price of two euros.
While the promotion was irresistible, many customers took to social media to complain about the long lines and poor service. “A bunch of rude people jump in line. There’s no person in charge, manager or anything to oversee,” one internet user wrote.
