The Vox candidate for the presidency of the Spanish Government, Santiago Abascal, assured this Sunday that the party will have a “heroic” result in the elections and encouraged voters to vote for a “change of direction” in Spain.
After exercising his right to vote at Colégio Cristo Rey, in Madrid, where he went at around 11:15 a.m., he assured journalists that he expects a “massive mobilization” so that the Spanish “decide their future”, something that, in his opinion, has not happened “for a long time”.
Spain votes this Sunday in legislative elections with the latest polls giving the victory of the right and the defeat of the current president of the Government, the socialist Pedro Sánchez.
Santiago Abascal criticized the attitude of his opponents and the media during the electoral campaign.
“The support we receive will be heroic, because we could not run any campaign in which there was something else -with a position of the media, mostly, and of political opponents installed in the lies, demonization and misrepresentation of Vox’s discourse”, he said.
From the electoral college, the Vox leader – who acknowledged that he had forgotten his identity document at home and, therefore, arrived about 15 minutes late compared to the scheduled time to vote – thanked the work of prosecutors, heads of electoral college and State Security Forces and Bodies.
The elections were scheduled for December, at the end of the legislature, but Sánchez brought them forward after the defeat of the left in the municipal and regional elections on May 28.
