Zelensky calls for air shield to protect Ukraine from Russian missile terror

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this Sunday called for an air shield to protect the entire country from Russian missiles, and appealed to the international community not to get used to the “terror” provoked by these attacks.

“Ukraine needs a full air shield: this is the only way to defeat the terror of Russian missiles,” Zelensky wrote in Telegram, assuring that Ukraine has already shown its ability to “shoot down even the Russian missiles that the terrorists boasted about”.

The Ukrainian head of state also stressed that, as a result of international aid and air defense systems to Ukraine, “sky defenders have saved thousands of lives”.

“But we need more air defense systems for our entire territory, for all our cities and communities. The world must not get used to Russian terror: terror must be defeated. It is possible!” he exclaimed.

The military press center reported that 10 civilians were killed and another 43 injured in attacks on Saturday in 10 regions of the country, according to data from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

Earlier this morning, a Russian attack on the port city of Odessa resulted in the death of a civilian and more than 20 injuries, including four children, with Ukrainian air defenses managing to shoot down nine of 19 missiles launched.

The attack also damaged 25 monuments in Odessa’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including a cathedral restored in 2007.

On the social network Twitter, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, classified the attack as “another war crime” committed by the Kremlin.

The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).
