Russia says it neutralized two Ukrainian drones in Moscow

Russia said on Monday it had “neutralized” two Ukrainian drones overnight in Moscow and claimed to have thwarted a “terrorist act” by kyiv in the Russian capital.

This “morning an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist act with two drones against targets on the territory of the city of Moscow was stopped,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated.

“Two Ukrainian drones were neutralized and crashed. There were no casualties,” it added.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, one of the drones crashed on Komsomolsky Prospekt, near the Russian Defense Ministry.

“Drone wreckage was found on Komsomolsky Prospekt in Moscow, Russian emergency services said,” TASS added.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, declared that the drone attacks hit “non-residential” buildings around 04:00 (02:00 in Lisbon), indicating that the rescue services sent to the place did not register any casualties.

The Russian news agency RIA Novosti released video footage of the city’s business center, showing damage to the top of a large building.

Moscow has been the target of several drone strikes this year this year, one of which hit the Kremlin in May.

Earlier this month, Russia claimed to have shot down five Ukrainian drones that disturbed Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport.
