The number of Portuguese emigrating to the Netherlands in 2022 was the highest since 2000, higher than those who chose Luxembourg to live, a traditional destination for Portuguese emigration, according to official data.
Citing data from Statistics Netherlands, the Dutch agency that registers the entry of foreigners, the Emigration Observatory revealed that 4,533 Portuguese entered the country last year.
In that year, the Netherlands registered 378,122 arrivals of foreigners, of which the Portuguese represented 1.2%.
Compared to 2021, Portuguese emigration to this country grew by 33.1% and even reached the highest number of arrivals since 2000.
This option for the Netherlands was greater than the choice of the Portuguese for Luxembourg (3633 entries in 2022), a traditional destination for Portuguese emigration.
Since 2000, Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands had a minimum value in 2005 (830 entries) and a maximum value in 2022 (4,533 entries).
