A fire that broke out this Sunday at a residential building in the town of Grasse, on the French Riviera, killed three people, local firefighters revealed. Three other people were seriously injured and four had minor injuries, they added.
“The condition of the victims may change,” Aymeric Soufflet of the fire service told AFP.

The origin of the now extinguished fire in the historic center of Grasse is still unclear. It only affected the three top floors of the building in question, the facade of which was partially blackened by the flames.
Firefighters were alerted by local residents around 3 a.m. local time (2 a.m. Lisbon) and when they arrived they found the body of a person who had jumped from the building, where the other two corpses were.
“An alarm went off and then I heard screaming,” says Martine, a woman who lives in a neighboring building. “A woman screamed for help and asked me to call the fire department, which I did. A man on the top floor even tried to get down to avoid the flames but fell,” he added.
Grasse is considered the perfume capital of the world.
