French authorities announced Monday that they will open an investigation into the bomb threat at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which forced the evacuation of the tourist attraction over the weekend.
“Threats to life” and “false accusations” of a dangerous incident are at stake, the French prosecutor’s office said in a statement, quoted by AFP.
The evacuation of the tower, on Saturday, included the three floors, the restaurant and the square that surrounds the structure, which is 330 meters high.
With almost six million visitors in 2022, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited monuments in the world.
