Users of the social network X can no longer block other accounts

Users of the social network X (formerly Twitter) will no longer be able to block other accounts, a feature some use as an added security measure, the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, announced today.

The billionaire, who bought the social network last year, pointed out that users can still block certain options from other accounts, such as sending private messages.

The option to mute other accounts will also remain active, Elon Musk added.

The latest update adds to the long list of changes that Musk, who is also CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has made since taking control of the company.

Since then, the platform has already changed its name and logo and removed free checks, a distinctive feature that was acquired in the past after verifying the user’s identity and under certain conditions, including notoriety.

Musk did not elaborate on the reason for the change or when this measure will take effect.

Account blocking means that the banned profile cannot see what the other user posts, leave comments, or follow the other account.

The mute function only prevents the user performing that action from seeing the replies from the blocked account, while other users can see the messages.
