Discussing the budget with the National Group is something prohibited for the left. PS, environmentalists and communists will not attend the meeting scheduled for Monday, November 3 in the early afternoon at the Ministry of Relations with Parliament, according to BFMTV.
The Socialists, like the Greens, explain that they do not participate in budget meetings “in the presence of RN.” Early in the morning, LFI had already announced that it would not accept the invitation.
“It is not up to the government to classify the deputies”
A ministerial advisor regrets this boycott of BFMTV. “The objective was to bring everyone around the table to see what we could leave aside, open negotiations and reach a consensus,” explains the latter.
“For 24 hours we have known that this meeting was in trouble because several groups do not want to come if the RN is present,” adds the advisor, who specifies that the meeting is being held.
Another BFMTV government source is upset: “things are clear: it is not up to the government to classify the deputies.”
This invitation responds to the wish of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu that “all interested ministers” bring together the representatives of the groups to “try to agree on the fundamental principles of the preparation of a text for Social Security and for the finance bill.” He presented this approach as a “change in method.”
Ministers Laurent Panifous (Relations with Parliament), Amélie de Montchalin (Public Accounts), Roland Lescure (Economy), Stéphanie Rist (Health), Jean-Pierre Farandou (Labor), David Amiel (Public Services) and Charlotte Parmentier-Lecocq (Persons with Disabilities) are around the table, according to the government.
The RN, UDR, LR, Horizons, MoDem and Renaissance groups confirmed to AFP that they would send their budget specialists to this meeting, which began around 1:00 p.m. The independent group Liot is also represented.
