The President of the Republic begins a two-day official visit to Poland, which includes meetings with the country’s top personalities, including his counterpart, Andrzej Duda, and the Portuguese community.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has lunch with Duda on Tuesday, but also with the leaders of the lower house of the Polish parliament, Elzbieta Witek, and of the Senate, Tomasz Grodzki.
This Monday’s program begins with a meeting with students from the University of Warsaw, followed by a guided tour of the “Centenary of Portugal-Poland Diplomatic Relations” exhibition in the Polish capital.
A meeting with the Portuguese community in Poland, at the National Library in Warsaw, and the inauguration of the Portuguese-speaking reading room complete the first day of Marcelo’s visit.
In June of last year, the President of the Republic was invited by his Polish counterpart to visit the country.
“Poland has a very important role, it is located, geographically, in a very sensitive point and, therefore, as you understand, everything that concerns Europe, particularly at this time, is important and is dealt with,” said Marcelo Rebelo from Sousa.
