Trump says he will miss the Republican presidential primary debates

The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed this Sunday that he will not be present at the first debate of the Republican presidential primaries, on Wednesday, or in others.

“The public knows who I am and the successful presidency I had,” Trump wrote on his social networks.

“Then I won’t do debates,” he added.

Donald Trump’s spokesman did not clarify whether the former US president plans to boycott all primary debates or just those that are scheduled.

The former president and former Republican leader has said for months that he sees little advantage in joining his Republican rivals on stage when they meet for the first time in Milwaukee on Wednesday, given their lead in the race.

“Why would I let people with 1 or 2% and 0% ask me questions all night?” he told her in a June interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, who will serve as moderator.

Trump has also repeatedly criticized Fox, host of the Aug. 23 prime-time event, insisting it is a “hostile network” that he believes will not treat him fairly.
