In the store on the official website of Donald Trump’s candidacy for president, it is possible to purchase T-shirts, sweatshirts and mugs with a photo of the former president’s police record and the phrase “not guilty” (not guilty). The clothes cost $36 (33 euros), the mugs 24 (22 euros). The photo is a montage. The real one cannot be taken until Thursday, when Trump surrenders himself in a Georgia jail charged with thirteen crimes related to attempting to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory in this state.
Contrary to what happened in the three other cases in which he was charged (in New York, Florida and Washington), in which the authorities waived this procedure, this time Trump will be treated like any other defendant and will have to take the photo for police registration. At least that was the intention of Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat, who said the status of detainees doesn’t matter. Some of Trump’s eighteen co-defendants in the trial, who began turning themselves in on Tuesday, have already done so, and their photos were made public yesterday.
