Russia’s defense ministry said on Sunday that its air defense systems prevented further attacks by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in the Bryansk and Kursk border areas.
“The Kiev regime has again attempted terrorist attacks (…) against the Russian Federation,” reads a message published on the Telegram messaging platform, which shows that “the air defense has detected and destroyed two drones over the territory of Bryansk and Kursk ” .
According to the Defense Ministry, the attack follows a similar attack on Saturday, also over Bryansk. However, according to the governor of the region, Alexander Bogomaz, this attack caused no injuries or damage.
In recent weeks there has been an increase in the number of drone attacks in Crimea, in the border areas between Russia and Ukraine and even in the capital Moscow.
On Friday, Russia reported that air defense systems had managed to neutralize nearly half a hundred drones targeting Crimea during the night.
These events took place after a group of Ukrainian naval and intelligence officers landed in a coastal area between the villages of Olenivka and Mayak, in the far west of the peninsula, to conduct a “special operation” in which, according to Kiev, even showed the Ukrainian flag, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations.
