Two French citizens on vacation in southeastern Mexico are missing, the French embassy in Mexico said Wednesday, confirming information from the local press.
“The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has been informed of the disappearance of these two French citizens,” the French Embassy in Mexico said.
Before continuing: “Your services are mobilized, like the Consulate General of France in Mexico City, in close contact with the family.”
A couple in a “spiritual center”
“They have been missing since September 12 in Chiapas,” the newspaper reported. Reformed over the weekend, identifying the two missing as a couple who were staying at “a spiritual center” in San Cristóbal de las Casas, one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations.
The woman’s sister “asked for help from a Chiapas tourism group (on the internet) to find her trail,” the newspaper said.
“Urgent, we [les] desperately searching […] We haven’t heard from them in a month. They are in Chiapas, probably around San Cristóbal de las Casas. Any details can help us, ”added the newspaper, quoting the message from him.
