Russian air defenses destroyed a drone approaching Moscow and two in a region bordering Ukraine, Russian officials said Monday morning.
Air defenses in the Lyubertsy district, southeast of the capital, “destroyed a drone flying towards Moscow,” the city’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, wrote on the Telegram social network.
“According to initial reports, there have been no casualties or damage. Emergency services are on the scene,” he added.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said that air defenses destroyed a drone over the Lyubertsy district overnight and blamed Kiev for the attack attempt.
Air traffic at Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports has been temporarily suspended, state news agency TASS reported earlier, citing the Russian aviation agency.
Two other drones were destroyed by air defenses in the Bryansk region on the border with Ukraine, the Russian defense ministry said on Telegram. There will be no damage or casualties.
In recent days, the capital and other Russian regions have been the target of a series of drone strikes, which Russian authorities say were Ukrainian, after Kiev promised earlier this summer to “give back” the conflict to Russia.
