North Korea on Monday criticized the deployment, announced by several European countries, of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, which Kiev had been asking for months to fight Russia.
“The United States had taken an ambiguous position on the issue of fighter jet supplies, under the pretext of not provoking an escalation of the war, but it had surrendered to the process of offering F-16 fighters, since the ‘counter’ Operation ‘attack’ by Ukraine resulted in numerous casualties and the destruction of Western weapons,” said the official North Korean news agency KCNA.
North Korean officials, through the North Korean Institute of International Studies, stressed that this measure is “desperate” and shows the West’s intention to “give Russia a strategic defeat on the Ukrainian battlefield at any cost.”
“The decision to even supply fighter jets is an act against peace that incites a protracted war and completely destroys regional peace and stability,” the text continues, underlining that the delivery of these fighter jets “is a major step in the towards a nuclear war against Russia. “.
They also reiterated that Washington is “obviously” the “nemesis blocking the peaceful solution” and pushing Europe towards a nuclear war “inciting its minions” to provide deadly weapons of various kinds.
Pyongyang made these comments after Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands pledged to send such fighter jets.
Last week, the Ukrainian president announced that Amsterdam would send 42 aircraft, although Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte did not want to give an exact number.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced she would send 19 aircraft in three batches.
Oslo, the third to make this announcement, has not yet clarified how many aircraft it will donate, although sources quoted by Norway’s public broadcaster NRK expect between five and 10.
More than a dozen countries have joined a coalition to help Ukraine get its hands on the F-16s, though most are sticking to training.
