United Kingdom advances with investigation after ruling that affected air traffic

The Government of the United Kingdom announced this Tuesday that it will carry out an administrative investigation, after the technical failure that affected air traffic.

In statements to Times Radio, Transport Minister Mark Harper clarified that it was not a cyberattack, but “a technical failure in the flight plan system.”

Faced with this glitch, airline agents had to manually enter flight plans, leading to hundreds of delays and cancellations.

A spokesman for the British air transport authority (NATS) told Agence France Presse (AFP) that “hundreds” of flights were affected by this ruling, admitting that it will take “several days” for the situation to return to normal. .

Several British airports warned on Tuesday of the existence of “significant delays” in flights, despite the fact that the technical failure that affected the United Kingdom’s air traffic system on Monday has been solved.

Thousands of passengers were unable to travel to and from the UK on Monday due to a technical problem that disrupted UK flight planning systems.

London Heathrow Airport advised passengers who have flights on Tuesday to contact the airlines to find out the status of their trips before heading to the terminal.

London’s Gatwick Airport has also asked passengers to contact airlines.

Luton Airport, also in London, warned today that UK flights remain subject to delays or cancellations.
