Eleven people required hospital treatment on Tuesday after a troubled flight between Milan, Italy, and Atlanta, United States. The Delta plane, which had 165 people on board, encountered a lot of turbulence about 40 miles from its destination.
There is no information on how many of the 151 passengers and 14 crew were injured in addition to the 11 who were taken to hospital, or how serious their injuries were.
Authorities have already announced that they will investigate, but have not yet established a relationship to local weather conditions, marked by the approach of hurricanes Idalia and Franklin.
Scientists have reported that so-called ‘clean air turbulence’ – which is difficult to predict and occurs without notoriously bad weather conditions, usually above 15,000 feet – is becoming more common as a result of climate change.
