“Upon arrival at the place, they intercepted a boat with a total of six people on board, four men and two women. Marítima rescued him and transported him, for security reasons, to the port of Pantelleria, where the Italian authorities were waiting for him.” AMN explained.

Since June 2023, the Maritime Police have rescued more than 400 immigrants, the same source added.

Since June, the Maritime Police has been part of Operation “THEMIS”, whose objective is “to control and monitor the Italian and external maritime borders of the European Union, in the fight against cross-border crime”.
