Zelensky visits troops in the Bakhmut region

Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky visited the battlefront on the outskirts of the eastern city of Bakhmut on Tuesday, one of the main points of confrontation with Russian forces.

Zelensky met with soldiers who participated in the counteroffensive in the area, according to official information that highlighted a meeting with Army commander Oleksander Sirski.

“Zelensky discussed in detail with the fighters the ‘problematic’ issues and the needs of the units,” the statement of the Ukrainian Presidency also indicates.

Among other issues, issues related to the supply of artillery ammunition and missiles for air defense systems were discussed.

The Ukrainian president decorated some soldiers deployed in eastern Ukraine.

This visit to the Bakhmut area came a day after his trip to the eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk and Zaporizhia provinces, partially occupied by Russian forces that invaded the country in 2022.

Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said on Monday that Ukrainian troops had retaken 47 kilometers around Bkhmut, including three square kilometers over the past week.
