According to the PJ, the suspect abused his professional knowledge as an insurance intermediary and resorted to “forming friendships with the victims” to convince them.
The 42-year-old man was detained by the PJ, through the Center’s Board of Directors, in accordance with an arrest warrant issued by Coimbra’s Central Investigation and Criminal Justice Department (DIAP).
As part of the investigation, the police “seized various documents used in the commission of the crimes and established the existence of several victims, mainly in the central region of the country”, who will have been misled for an amount of nearly two million euros. .
The detainee will be present at the first judicial hearing on the application of coercive measures.
