Russia considers sending depleted uranium to Ukraine a sign of US “inhumanity”

Russia on Thursday called the US decision to send depleted uranium tank munitions to Ukraine a clear sign of its “inhumanity”.

“The US administration’s decision to send depleted uranium shells to kyiv is a clear sign of inhumanity,” the Russian embassy in Washington wrote on the Telegram messaging platform.

For Russia, “Washington, obsessed with the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, is ready to fight not only to the last Ukrainian, but also to wipe out future generations.”

Moscow accused the United States of “deliberately transferring weapons with indiscriminate effect” to Ukraine.

The embassy argued that the explosions of these munitions cause “a moving radioactive cloud and small uranium particles are deposited in the respiratory tract, lungs and esophagus, accumulate in the kidneys and liver, cause cancer and lead to inhibition of functions of the whole system”. organism”.

“It is fair to look at the uranium footprint of the Americans in Iraq and the Balkans, where thousands of civilians have suffered from cancer,” he said.

Russia claimed that the United States is “deceiving itself” by supplying this type of ammunition to Ukraine, as it “refuses to accept the failure of the so-called counteroffensive” by Ukrainian troops in the east and south of the country, where Kiev says there has been progress.

“The course of the special military operation will not change: the Russian army will continue to methodically crush the weapons sent” to the Kiev government, the embassy stressed, referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
