Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leaves hospital

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left a Jerusalem hospital where he had been admitted today after feeling unwell during the Jewish Yom Kippur fast, observed on Tuesday and Wednesday, a source in his office said.

The former governor is a candidate for the legislative elections on November 1.

Netanyahu, 72, was taken to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital with chest pains while attending ceremonies at a synagogue.

The hospitalization came less than a month before Israel held its fifth national election in less than four years.

Yom Kippur, the annual Day of Atonement on the Jewish calendar, is marked by intense prayers and a 25-hour fast.
