Ukraine signs an agreement with Sweden to produce infantry fighting vehicles

Ukraine and Sweden will jointly produce CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukrainian armed forces, with better off-road performance and reinforced armor, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar announced on Sunday.

In a post on the social network Telegram, the official said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces received VC-90 armored vehicles over the summer, which are “already performing combat tasks on the front line” and that more will be available soon.

“Soon the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive many more vehicles of this type, as Ukraine and Sweden have agreed on the joint production of the CV-90. The immediate goal is to supply a thousand Swedish infantry fighting vehicles to the Ukrainian army. ‘, he underlined.

Maliar stated that the CV-90 is considered “the best infantry fighting vehicle in the world”.

“Designed and manufactured in Sweden, it has everything a modern fighting vehicle should have and its main advantage is the care taken by the crew (three people) and the landing party (up to eight people), because the protection offered by the CV -90 offers features are not available on any other infantry fighting vehicle,” the minister said.

The official emphasized that the CV-90s are equipped with effective anti-tank weapons and a powerful 40-millimeter automatic cannon, which can fire at a distance of up to three kilometers, with a maximum firing range of more than 12 kilometers.

In addition, the CV-90 uses a revolutionary chassis with Formula 1 technology, where the suspension adapts to the surface, providing extremely high maneuverability, while rubber inserts on the tracks significantly reduce noise levels while driving.

“The Swedish infantry fighting vehicle cannot be heard even at 200 meters,” he added.
