Irish airline Ryanair has canceled 58 flights departing or arriving at Charleroi airport, in southern Belgium, due to a pilot strike planned for this Thursday and Friday, the fourth strike since mid-July.
Pilots at Ireland’s budget airline are demanding their salaries be restored after cuts during the Covid-19 pandemic and are also complaining about problems with rest times.
Among the 14 canceled flights scheduled to depart Charleroi this Thursday, one is to Madrid and another to Alicante, the Belgian airport’s website said.
Another 14 flights, which were due to land in Charleroi on Thursday, were also cancelled, including a flight from Madrid and another from Alicante.
For Friday, September 15, 30 flights were canceled (15 departures and 15 arrivals). In terms of destinations, connections between Charleroi and Castellón, Ibiza and Reus were affected.
On its website, Charleroi asks passengers whose flights have been canceled not to travel to the airport.
