Ryanair cancels 58 flights due to pilot strike in Belgium

The Irish airline Ryanair canceled 58 flights departing or arriving at Charleroi airport, in southern Belgium, due to a pilot strike scheduled for this Thursday and Friday, the fourth strike since mid-July.

Pilots at the Irish low-cost airline are demanding their salaries be reinstated following cuts made during the Covid-19 pandemic and are also complaining about problems with break times.

Among the 14 canceled flights that were due to take off this Thursday from Charleroi, there is one bound for Madrid and another for Alicante, according to the Belgian airport’s website.

Another 14 flights that were scheduled to land today in Charleroi were also cancelled, including a flight from Madrid and another from Alicante.

For Friday, September 15, 30 flights were canceled (15 departures and 15 arrivals). As for destinations, connections between Charleroi and Castellón, Ibiza and Reus were affected.

Charleroi asks passengers whose flights have been canceled not to come to the airport on its website.
