Kim Jong-un is in eastern Russia to visit an aircraft factory

The North Korean leader arrived this Friday aboard his armored train at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur station, in eastern Russia, where he plans to visit an aircraft factory, the Russian news agency TASS reported.

Kim walked a red carpet at the station, where he was greeted by the governor of the Khabarovsk region, Mikhail Degtyarev, and the city’s mayor, Alexander Zhornik.

Also present was a delegation of students from an engineering school and a local friends association, who presented the North Korean leader with a traditional Russian offering of bread and salt.

Kim has been visiting Russia since September 12, after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in a meeting in which an exchange of weapons and technology is believed to have been agreed.

On Thursday, the leaders of Russia and North Korea offered each other a rifle (an automatic repeating rifle known as a ‘rifle’), marking Kim’s visit to the Russian Far East.

The gifts exchanged were announced by the Russian Presidency, which also stated that the North Korean leader’s visit will be extended “a few more days.”

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, Vladimir Putin “gave Kim a glove from a space team that had traveled to space several times” and “a Russian-made ‘rifle’ of the highest quality.”

In exchange, Kim Jong-un offered Putin “a ‘rifle’ made in North Korea,” the spokesman said.

The visit to Russia is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, particularly military ones, and Putin has stated that he sees “prospects” for military cooperation with North Korea, despite the international sanctions imposed on the Pyongyang regime due to its already nuclear programs. the production of new missiles.

Kim Jong-un expressed his conviction of the victory of the army and people of “Great Russia” in Ukraine, during a lunch offered to him by Putin.

The United States warned North Korea on Wednesday that no country should help the Russian president “kill innocent Ukrainians,” stressing that Pyongyang will face consequences if it does so.

Japan and South Korea also expressed concern about a possible arms deal between Putin and Kim, with Tokyo warning of the risk of violating U.N. sanctions related to North Korea’s weapons.

South Korean government representatives also expressed deep concern about a possible arms exchange and military cooperation agreement between Pyongyang and Moscow.
