Of course, he’s careful to pretend he’s just repeating what he’s heard from “a lot of people,” but his fury is unmistakable. In a video recorded in an unknown location but posted on Telegram on Thursday, Kirill Stremousov does not hesitate to ask Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to “shoot himself”.
Even in the midst of the wave of anger currently gripping the entire Russian army under his command and in the course of the war, this call to suicide is not likely to go unnoticed.
Because Kirill Stremousov is nothing less than the deputy head of the “Kherson Civil and Military Administration”, the puppet body that runs on behalf of Russia this region torn from Ukraine and that the Kremlin intends to annex.
Points out ‘talentless’ military leaders
“Today there are many talks, scandals, rumors circulating about the fact that the Minister of Defense made many mistakes”, begins Kirill Stremousov, repeating later: “In fact, many people say that if they had been the Minister of Defense they would let things come to such a point, they would have simply shot themselves, like good officers.
“But you know, ‘official’ is an incomprehensible word for many,” he laments to the attention of his audience of Internet users.
“There is no need, at this time, to bring opprobrium in one form or another to the entire Ministry of Defense for… I am not going to say ‘traitors’ but rather untalented commanders who do not care, and have never taken any responsibility for current events, or the shortcomings they show”, taking advantage of this apparent concession to throw a second inning to Sergei Shoigu.
The ministry is not made “only of scum”
He reproduces this passive-aggressive process by sustaining his tribute to the troops:
“The Ministry of Defense is not only made up of ministers, generals, corrupt bandits and other scum. They are very few. But all these soldiers who have given their lives today, who keep their heads held high until the end, are heroes and I know them with my eyes since I’m on the front line.
The return of the Kremlin accent
It must be said that the situation is serious for the Russians and their allies in this southern province of Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities have thus estimated at 400 km² the land recovered in the region since October 1.
Kirill Stremousov, however, claims that Kherson is so firmly “padlocked” that “the Nazis will not enter the place.” A word this time in unison with the official speech of the Russian power.
