Emmanuel Macron announced this Friday the creation of a “special fund” for Ukraine, after an informal European summit
This fund “will allow Ukraine to buy the equipment it most needs directly from our manufacturers,” he explained.
The goal is to “support their war effort” and their “resistance to Russian attacks.” It will be endowed with 100 million euros “to start”, and will refer to the purchase of “defensive” weapons, said the head of state.
In addition, France also plans to send new Caesar guns, the centerpiece of French artillery, to Ukraine. Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that he was discussing the issue with European partners, and in particular with Denmark. France is ready to “co-finance” the device, he said.
Since the beginning of the conflict, France has provided 18 155mm Caesar guns with a range of 40 km, mounted on trucks, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, advanced armored vehicles (VAB), fuel, individual equipment and a fifteen TRF1 towed guns of 155mm to Ukraine.
