Fourteen people were killed on Saturday when a plane crashed in the Brazilian Amazon in the city of Barcelos in the north of the country, a popular tourist destination, the governor of Amazonas state said.
Twelve passengers and two crew members died in the accident, Governor Wilson Lima wrote on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to Brazilian media reports, there are no survivors of the accident.
The news website UOL reported that the passengers were Brazilian tourists traveling to the region to practice sport fishing, citing State Security Minister Vinicius Almeida.
News website G1 said the plane was an 18-passenger EMB-110, a twin-engine plane produced by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer.
The plane was said to be on its way from the capital Manaus to Barcelos, a flight of about 90 minutes. Located on the banks of the Rio Negro, a tributary of the Amazon, the area borders several national parks and other protected areas.
